Home of the Sound of Silver
The Shaw High School Concert Band is open to all students in grades 9-12. The mission of the band is to further develop student musicianship by achieving technichal mastery and quality in tone. Students in the band will perform concerts throughout the year in conjunction with the symphonic band, orchestra, and choirs.
The Shaw High School Symphonic Band, also known as the "big band", is comprised of students in 9-12th grade. The band traditionally plays at least three concerts per year in conjunction with the orchestra and choirs. In addition, the Symphonic Band performs annually at Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) where they consistently recieve high ratings. Auditions for the symphonic band are held in the spring semester and are open to all Shaw students as well as incoming 8th graders from middle school.
The Sound of Silver Marching Band is one of the most prominent marching bands in Muscogee County. The band performs numerous times a year at parades, exhibitions, pep rallies, and football games and is well known in the community. Members of the Sound of Silver are in the 9-12 grades and represent almost every organization on campus, from Track and Field to JROTC. The band is accompanied by an auxillary unit of flags, dancers, and majorettes known as the Dazzling Lady Diamonds. For more information on the Sound of Silver please click the contact button below.
